Running RECN on your Mac

RECN can stay out of the way until you need it. Windows works the same way, with the tray instead of the menu bar and CtrlAlt in place of (New… is CtrlAltShiftN, since CtrlAltN is New project inside RECN).

It keeps running in the background

Turn on Settings › Background › Keep RECN running in the background. A tape-reel icon appears in the menu bar. It turns red while RECN is recording.

Q now sends RECN to the background instead of quitting. To really quit, choose Quit RECN from the menu-bar icon or the Dock icon’s menu.

  • Open RECN⌃⌥Space
  • New…⌃⌥N
  • New Recording
  • Settings…
  • Quit RECN

Getting it back

Click the Dock icon, choose Open RECN from the menu-bar icon, or press Space from any app. The Library window always comes back.

Change any of them in Settings: click the shortcut and press a new one.

New things start named and filed

From N or N, pick what to make, give it a name and choose its project, or leave it Loose. Then start. Nothing lands in the Library as “Untitled”.
